I can’t let you play that Robin…

I had some time to spare today and decided to spend it playing Mass Effect in my continuing effort to collect all achievements in the game (Yes, I suffer mildly from achievementwhoreiosis). I started the game and went straight for Pinnacle Station since I lack pretty much all of those achievements. I board the station and run up to start my first simulation, when my screen all of a sudden is filled with green artifacts.

I shrugged it off as something with the game but a thought kept nagging me since I’ve seen such things before and it’s usually a sign that the graphics chip is about to take a very long vacation. I saved and restarted the game, now it’s green everywhere and I knew I was in trouble. So I decided to restart my console only to get a flashing red light and an error 74 message on my TV.

After some investigation I found out that this is covered by the RROD extended guarantee and since I still have some warranty left I applied for repairs immediately. But I’m still going to be without my precious 360 for the coming three weeks.

It’s not so bad though, I’ve got a lot of things going on that I can use the extra time for. That coupled with the fact that I’m in the middle of the process of moving to a new apartment and thusly don’t have much time left for video games makes it something of a fortunate coincidence.

Oh, yes, I’m moving, from the 20th of november I will be living in a new apartment with my wonderful girlfriend Sofie. I’m really looking forward to this and I can’t wait to get to say ”our home” instead of ”mine” or ”hers”.
